Shaw Vinyl Plank Flooring Pros, Cons and Ratings Most luxury vinyl plank flooring is low-VOC, but be sure you see the FloorScore label or a similar certification before you buy. It represents that the flooring has been tested for volatile organic compounds (VOC) and is a low-VOC option. EIR creates a more authentic look that you can feel too. When the vinyl planks are formed in the molds, they are left with realistic wood texture. Molds are produced using genuine wood planks. What it means is that the floor is manufactured using the EIR or embossed in registry technique. This reduces noise and saves on the cost of buying and installing separate pad. Most of the standard Floorte lines and all of the Floorte Pro lines are Plus options – they have the pad attached. Use chair and appliance pads to protect your vinyl floor If mats are placed directly on top of the resilient floors, use mats without latex or rubber backings to avoid possible discoloration. Mats are also suggested at heavy pivot locations, such as in front of your kitchen sink or stove. These mats will also help protect your flooring from premature wear. It is important to use a good quality entry mat to trap dirt, sand and other substances such as oil that would otherwise be tracked onto your floor.
